Life Just Became Simpler Supports Playa Del Carmen

We have not given you the latest rundown on what we have been doing and that is not fair.  We are sorry.  Our lastest posts have come as a whirlwind posting strategy with no explanation to our regular readers..the problem was we had to keep it a secret until June 30.  That was the pact and we honoured it.

So lets back up to the Swine Flu aftermath.  All of us, Nicola, Dave, and Greco had a pow wow about what the heck to do once the Swine Flu ‘thing’ hit.  We will call it that, the Swine Flu thang…and it was time to build a different strategy for our individual businesses and the group community.  there was a media war on Mexico and we had to think of ways of protecting ourselves, and surrounding ourselves with some good media lovin’, something we deserve and something that we think Playa Del Carmen deserves.

We came up with a few things, development of the Abyss BBQ so that we offered more excitement, more fun and wanted to open it to our clients and friends as a feel good event.  The response to our new focus as been fantastic and we now have at least 50 people every two weeks at the BBQ and loving it.  Last BBQ we had the kids in the pool snorkeling, and trying diving.  And we think we have some new scuba divers in the midst.  Ubaldo our chef is now famous and we are gettting a ton of requests for parties.

The other strategy is the development and execution of the Playa Del Carmen event, Taste of Playa.  I am sure you have read the articles, joined our facebook group Taste of Playa and are making plans to come for this first time gourmet extravaganzia that all of the LIfe Just Became Simpler businesses will be participating in.

For 5 weeks a committee of great executive volunteers have been working with Nicola to plan and start the event.  6 women and a one man have been working around the clock to set this event up and we have to say, all of us are blown away.  This group has put together an event in less time than humanly possible, executed an amazing marketing plan, solicited many chefs in the area and have put together Playa’s first Gran Evento in the Parque Fundadores close to the small church at the end of Juarez.    For the full story on the development of the committee check out Michele Kinnon’s blog Life’s a Beach and read in more detail, the who, the what and the where.

the event is planned for September 5, 2009 and the event website is www.tasteofplaya.com if you want to check it out.  It is an event worth travelling for and we have put our hotel prices down for our guests so they can share in the fun and the food.  70USD per night for a classic room folks so come one and come all.  Book early and be one the first to secure your room.

This experience for all of us has been a very positive one and we thank the swine Flu for encouraging us to rethink our strategies and think differently.  As Wilma landed the hotel in our lap, a great positive addition to our business, the Swine Flu has made our community more exciting and more communityish than we had before.  We are having more fun now than we have ever had.  And we want you to join in the fun.

So we will continue to bring updates to this blog about the Taste of Playa Del Carmen and encourage you to follow the story.  Playa is still the same place it always has been but is becoming a more cohesive community that we are loving.
